The Construction Safety Council are working to improve the competency of its workers and have set a common standard with the ConstructSafe scheme.  Tier One testing for the scheme is now available – a test for basic site safety competency, which is undertaken online through an accredited testing centre.

The ConstructSafe scheme provides a consistent and transparent method to independently check that those working on construction sites are competent and safe.  This includes workers, trade specialists, supervisors and managers – irrespective of who their employer is.

Some principal contractors already insist ConstructSafe be the recognised standard on their construction site, with it anticipated many will follow.

ConstructSafe is not a training course, but an online test of basic health and safety competency, it's a mixture of 50 multi-choice and touch picture questions, that is all done online., with questions covering topics such as:

  • Environmental
  • Access and Site Security
  • Hygiene
  • Emergencies
  • Utilities and Services
  • Vibration
  • Drugs and Alcohol
  • Work at Height
  • Plant
  • Confined and Restricted Spaces
  • Manual Handling
  • Communication and Consultation

  • Traffic

The test is delivered on tablets, with audio to assist candidates who may have limited literacy skills.  We can bring everything to you so your staff can complete the testing onsite, and you’ll only need to provide somewhere suitable for your staff to sit while they complete the test; or your staff can come to our training facility at 103 Tawa Street, Melville, Hamilton
